In an Instagram

Hello stranger. Haven't seen you in a while, which isn't to say I haven't been photographing. The past few months have been busy, working on the other side of the city (hello hour and a half long commute!) has put a halt on my blog but I have been shooting, including a major food photography project (which I will share once the final product is out!). I have also been instagramming. I only got a smart phone earlier this year and was totally against them. Now I have a somewhat love hate relationship with my phone, it's not at all fancy, actually it was the cheapest one in the shop. So with this non fancy phone I've grown to love Instagram. I love that I can whip my 'camera' out and take sneaky photos of people on the street, or record wonderful colour combinations or quickly snap a fleeting moment when the light is just so. Here are a few of my instagram shots, I hope you enjoy them. You can follow me there at /oliviablackburnphotography .

A Tropical Conversation

It's been a while since my last blog post, I have a new day job which has been taking up a lot of my time. A holiday was in order and I was lucky enough to take a few days off and head north to Port Douglas in tropical north Queensland. Sunshine, oceans swims, gondola rides through the rainforest and lazy afternoons sitting under palm trees. Such bliss to get away from it all to this beautiful tropical paradise.

The Wedding Series - She's a Dreamer & Wore Flowers in her Hair

Welcome to the final look for The Wedding Series! This one was my fave, Gina from Donovan Floral Design's flower crown creation set the mood for this dreamy, relaxed look which I think suited our stunning model, Elly to a tee. I love the 60s style short lace dress, super comfy but also on point for style and cuteness. Thanks again to Joanna from The Visualary for her styling genius and the wonderful folks over at Little Curio Hire for their beautiful vintage crockery, linen, tableware.

The Wedding Series - Colour Pop!

Did you see the little sneak preview GIF I made in my last post? That was just a taste of the next look of The Wedding Series!

I love love love colour, so Joanna from The Visualary worked her magic and styled this look for the ladies who like to try something a little different - a retro twist, a yellow wedding dress or a super cute bridesmaid with pompoms in her hair. The look was paired with a pretty pink bouquet from Donovan Floral Design and equally as sweet cupcakes from Mon Delish! Huge thanks also to the wonderful folks over at Little Curio Hire for their beautiful vintage crockery, linen, tableware.

Thanks so much again to the wonderful team who helped with this shoot. Elly ( our amazing model who now has a new love for vanilla cream cupcakes), Jo from The Visualary, Gina from Donovan Floral Design and Michelle from Mon Delish (cupcakes). <3 nbsp="" p="">

The Wedding Series - Bohemian Bride

The lovely stylist Joanna from The Visualary and I teamed up again to shoot The Wedding Series, a three part wedding shoot, three brides, styled three different ways, all unique and fitting to different tastes and themes.

Part one of The Wedding Series trio is the bohemian bride. We're in love with her pretty flower crown, dusty pink roses and floaty frock.

Special thanks to Michelle from Mon Delish for making the amazing cupcakes, Gina from Donovan Floral Design for her beautiful blooms, Elly our stunning model, my dear friend Annie for loaning us her gorgeous wedding dress and of course Joanna for her incredible styling. A huge huge merci beau coup the wonderful folks over at Little Curio Hire for supplying their beautiful vintage crockery, linen, tableware and making our shoot ever so pretty. Xoxo to you all.

Mystery Film Rolls Pick n' Mix

A few rolls of film from my Diana mini camera had been gathering dust until I finally had the funds to get them developed. There were a couple that I couldn't remember what was on them, which, for me is the beauty of film. Sometimes I like not knowing how an photo will turn out as I savour each shutter click for something special then I get a nice surprise when I get a roll developed!

I remembered a photo walk around Melbourne I did a months ago with these guys, a beach outing, a trip to Nelson airport and a few holiday snaps from a long lost New Zealand summer.
